Pro-Triathlete phenom Andrew Yoder is challenging the Worlds best triathletes at the ripe young age of 19.  This past weekend he went head to head with 70.3 World Champion Terenzo Bozzone and was a mere 10 seconds from pulling off the upset.  Here is Andrew’s recap and his nutrition for the race.

Another Columbia is in the books and I am very pleased with my effort yesterday. I placed 2nd, 10 seconds behind Terenzo Bozzone and posted the fastest bike split of the day by 2.5+ minutes. Race morning was cold and wet and add the challenging course, we were in for a tough day! After an average swim, I hit the bike in 7th and quickly made my way to the front of the race. I felt great on the bike and was able to extend my lead into T2 by 1:45 over Terenzo and 4:30 on Richie Cunningham. During the first two miles of the run, my stride felt choppy and tight. I was able to work through it and eventually my legs started to come around. Terenzo caught me at mile 4.5 and opened up a small gap. I tried to fight back and managed to hold it to about 10 seconds but could never close in. Overall, it was another solid race and confidence builder.

Below is my nutrition plan for the race -

Race Start – 6:45

5:30 to 6:30 – Sipped on 1 serving (100 cal) of EFS Lemon Lime w/ PreRace

6:30 (15 minutes prior to race start) – 1 Liquid Shot w/ water

Bike – 20 oz. of EFS Lemon Lime w/ PreRace (1.5 scoops = 150 calories)

Run – 1 Liquid Shot @ mile 2

Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend! See you at the races!
